Three Years of Homeschooling by God's Grace

I remember the day when we decided to take a leap of faith to homeschool our son and pulled him out of the conventional school. We knew it will never be an easy road to take but we were all thrilled. We knew this is what God wants us to do and we believed that if He calls us to homeschool, He will bring us through it.

By God's grace, we are now on our 3rd year of homeschooling. God enabled us to go this far and I can only credit everything to Him.

Every year is different. We have different struggles each year. I really cannot say it is becoming easy. It isn't...or maybe it isn't yet.

Just this school year before we enrolled, we are contemplating on going independent or change provider because of money matters. There are other providers which offers a much, much lower fee and there are a lot of free online resources in case we opt to go independent. But after praying about it and seeking the advise of fellow homeschooling Moms, by God's grace, we stayed with the same provider.

I like what one of my sister in Christ said when i asked her why they stayed with the same provider (they also planned on changing provider), she gave me a beautiful answer. Aside from the benefits of having portfolio reviews, she also shared, "I trusted the heart of Edric and Joy, as they were being discipled by Pastor Tan-chi". This made us think maybe we are so focused on the finances that we missed to see the bigger picture. Besides, it is God who will provide for us and who will sustain us for another year.

We may not be able to pay in full but God provided for us to be able to enroll. We continue to cling on His promises because He is faithful. He is our partner in this journey and we can never go wrong in Him. Money should be the least of our concerns because God will provide according to His riches.

Another struggle that we are facing when we entered this school year is my schedule. I shared before why I resigned from my corporate job, you can read about it here. After roughly six months, I'm finally back to work. God blessed me with a homebased job. Now, I'm having difficulty adjusting since we usually start our homeschooling at 2:00PM. My job starts at 12:00NN. I need to train myself and my son to become a morning person which we are really battling with. As what Pastor Peter Tan-chi said, God allow us to experience physical discomfort in order to work in our hearts. 

I am thankful because God gave us a coop who came from our own Dgroup. We share the same faith and we focus more on the character of our kids rather than the academics. We get to share our struggles and victories, our best practices and even our resources! Most importantly, they are our source of encouragement and we have the priviledge to pray for one another.

I'm also blessed to have a mentor alongside. She is a great inspiration to all of us. Her faith is really amazing! Homeschooling will not be bearable without them.

As we embark another year, it's good to be reminded of the mission that God impressed in our hearts as parents, the mission that we carried from day one and we will carry throughout this journey.

Homeschooling is never easy but the rewards are worth it. We know that our labor is not in vain and in due time, we will reap the harvest.
