A New, Safe and Effective Way to Deal with Dengue Mosquitoes

Here in the tropics, the rainy season is also the season for Dengue, a potentially deadly, yet all too common mosquito borne disease. Last year there were over 200,000 cases of Dengue fever reported in the Philippines, and almost 600 were fatalities. What is alarming is that this was way up from the 121,000 reported instances in 2014. More alarming still is that just this year, the DOH has reported 70,000 Dengue cases from January to July, the supposed lean Dengue months, this is 19% more than the same period last year. It is now more imperative than ever that measures be taken to curb Dengue, and the best way to do that is to control the numbers of Dengue Mosquitoes.

Our Lapbooking Experience

I wasn't really into lapbooking until I saw a pile of colorful lapbooks in Sis Ayenn's house the last time we gathered for our coop. Sis Ayenn of Ayen's Dwelling Place is our mentor when it comes to homeschooling. She is a great inspiration and her family is a blessing to us. I flipped through some of the lapbooks made by her two kids and I love how creative and personal it is.  Then, I decided to do the same.

Here's how we do lapbooking:

I usually print free lapbook templates from online resources. I will cut, fold and set it aside for future use. Sometimes, I ask for Gabi's help to cut them for me.

During study time, I will ask him to read a lesson and will hand over a few templates to use. I will ask him to write down any important facts or information he learned from what he just read. It's like a notebooking of a sort - something I got from Sis Ayenn also.

I like how Gabi will write information according to how he understands it and would go beyond merely copying what is in the book. After that, he will put designs and drawings on the lapbook which really excites him. I recently allowed him to do it so he will not find the task boring.

Sometimes, I will print ready-made lapbooks for the topic that we are covering. There are a lot online, for FREE.

Here are our Grade 3 Lapbooks:

Nutri10 Plus Syrup para sa Batang Aktibo at Malakas

As Moms, we want our kids to become healthy and strong. As much as possible, we don't like them getting sick. So we tried to provide the foods that contain essential nutrients that their growing body needs. We all know that the first line of defense should be a healthy diet.

However, I must admit that sometimes I fall short on this. Crunch times and busy schedules make it hard for us to get healthy meals. Good thing vitamin and mineral supplements can help fill in small nutrient gaps.

REVIEW: Dermax Hyal-C Serum by SkinStation

Today, I am going to review one of the best sellers of Dermax Professional by SkinStation, Hyal-C Serum.

I got this product during the SkinStation Grand Opening at Venice Grand Cannal MallAt first, I'm having second thoughts about trying this. I got curious about the serum and when I found out that it is more potent than moisturizers, I felt intrigued and decided to give it a shot. I never tried any serum before so this is my first. I've been using moisturizers on my face for hydration purposes. Without a daily dose of it, my skin tends to dry.

Before we start, let's define first Hyaluric acid (HA) or Hyal for short.

Hyaluric acid (HA) is a kind of amino polymer naturally present in our body, a building block for collagen. However, our body's ability to produce HA diminishes as we age.

The Mystery of History Volume 1: Creation to Resurrection

One of Gabi's favorite subject is World History. We used Mystery of History Volume 1: "Creation to the Resurrection" for two years and we're glad to finally finished the entire book. We love this book so much since history was explained in a biblical way. I never thought History will be this fun.

Mommy Milkshare Event Set to Benefit Fabella Milk Bank

It’s a well-known fact that breastfeeding is best for babies. The World Health Organization states why it is so on their website, and also emphasizes that breastfeeding benefits the mothers who choose to breastfeed their babies.

The reality is, though, that some mothers might not be able to breastfeed their children immediately after birth for legitimate medical reasons. There are also babies whose mothers may have passed away yet still need to be nourished with breastmilk.
