A Family Celebration of Holy Week

"Easter should be a day of unsurpassed joy and celebration. Without the Resurrection, there is no Christianity."
Easter

This year, hubby and I decided to be intentional when it comes to making a family tradition. So, we are started with the celebration of the Holy Week.

I got the book, "Christ in Easter: A Family Celebration of Holy Week" years back and we started it last year but not very intentional. So, we have revisited it and used in our Morning Time for the Holy Week.

Easter

This book contains devotional and Scripture readings, hymns, poems, family discussions, and activities. It is woven around devotionals and insights by contributing authors, Charles Colson, Billy Graham, Max Lucado, and Joni Eareckson Tada. It is not designed to cover the entire period of Lent but covers the eight days from Palm Sunday to Easter. Beginning with Palm Sunday and highlighting all the major events of Holy Week (including The Last Supper, Good Friday, and the Resurrection).

I chose one activity for our family to do, which is the Picture Poster. Each day, we added a picture according to the events happened on that day. This helped us remember what we talked about on that day, and build anticipation and curiosity for what is coming next. Even my 5 yo joined in this activity.

Easter

These activities provided a way for our family to prepare for Easter, day by day through the Holy Week, with an emphasis on worship and fun times together. As we see the events of Holy Week unfold day by day, we got a fresher sense of the mystery and meaning of Easter and how it can change your life. It helped our family to have a better understanding of the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Aside from this, we also watched the movie, "A Gospel of John" and we attended service last Resurrection Sunday. It was a blessed Holy Week for our family!

May the joy of Easter be ours every day. May it fill us with a sense of adventure as we face the challenges of this world in the light of eternity and to help us to keep our eyes on Jesus and the victory we have through faith in Him.
