I love gifts! Who doesn't? But what if you receive a gift straight from the hand of God?
When God created Adam, he said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Gen. 2:18). Everything that God created is "good" except this one. This is the only "not good" that God mentioned during the time of creation, the answer? It was Eve - a suitable helper, God's gift to Adam.
You see, even before God created Eve, He already laid down His will for her and the future wives - that is to be a helper suited to the needs of a man. We are called to be of service to our husbands, making him more productive and efficient. In the book, "Created to be his Help Meet", Debi mentioned, "If you are a wife, you were created to fill a need... This is how God created you and it is your purpose for existing. You are by nature equipped in every way to be your man's helper. You are inferior to none as long as you function within your created nature, for no man can do your job, and no man is complete without his wife".
My husband and I are very much opposite in a lot of ways. I used to see this negatively, I used to asked, "Why can't he be like me?" or "Did I marry the right person?." But you know as we begin to understand our divine calling, we learned to appreciate and celebrate our differences. His weakness is my strength, my strength is his weakness and that makes us suitable for one another. Now we can say, "Kaya nga ikaw ang binigay ni Lord sa akin". God is really amazing for giving us a partner that is just right for us.
To be a help meet requires submission to our husband's headship. I must admit, this is still my struggle up to now, a daily struggle. There are times that I don't want to be inconvenienced especially when I'm engaged in something. But God will immediately convict my grumbling heart and will remind me that I am not doing this for my husband, that by submitting to him, I am submitting to God. My husband is my priority next to God and i need to be reminded of this all the time. When I asked him to rate my submission from 1-10 (10 being the highest) his answer was 7. Wow, praise God! I didn't expect to get a high score. It is only by God's grace that my husband sees improvement in that area.

When you honor husband, you honor God. When you obey your husband, you obey God. When God made you, He must have been thinking about me...
