4 Years of Homeschooling

4 Years of Homeschooling
Living Books that we are going to read

This is our 4th year as a homeschooling family. I always say that no homeschooling year is the same. Last year, we started our journey to Charlotte Mason Education and we fell in love with it that we want to continue on this method for the years to come.

This year, we will be doing it as an Independent Homeschooler. By Indie means, you are not enrolled in any homeschool provider. This is another new in our journey. We are gearing this route not by choice but because of financial struggle we are facing. We can no longer sustain the tuition fee of the provider we were enrolled previously especially that we are in a single income household. But we are trusting our Lord to direct our steps. We know that our homeschooling should be dependent on Him because He holds the future of our kids. There are worries, but we lift them up to Him. We are tired doing it our way, so we surrendered it to our Sovereign God. I know He is faithful and so we will be faithful in homeschooling our kids whether we are enrolled or not.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 NIV
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."~ Philippians 4:19 NIV

4 Years of Homeschooling

By God's grace, we were able to survive our first week of 2017-2018. Though I got sick during our first week, it pretty much went well.

This school year, we are jumping from Ambleside Online Year 1 to Year 3 for my 9 yo son. This is per recommendation of Gina (the Charlotte Mason guru of the Philippines) when I consulted her during one of her talks. But we will be tackling the Year 2 History, so as not to miss out on the chronological order of the subject. Then, we will just catch up on Y3 History. We will also be reading some Y2 books available during free time.

With AO, it gets easier once you find your stride. We may not be able to do it perfectly but it's fine. In our homeschooling, I learned to look at our successes instead of our shortcomings. It somehow just made our homeschooling easier. I am so thankful how Ambleside Online has richly blessed our family!
